I am not Black, I am African.

I come from a land where colour is no dividing factor,
Where tribes have all the colours and shades;
From skin as white as canvas,
To those as black as pitch.
I come from a land where colour isn’t even a thing.

I come from a Tribe made of many tribes,
Each with unique cultures, but sharing one bond and creed;
We’re all from mother Nubia,
And in her, we all unite!
I come from a land where diversity isn’t a thing to hide.

I come from a land rich in history,
And tales of empires and kings;
From tales of Ancient Egypt,
To great Mali, mighty and rich.
I come from an ancestry so great, the world still can’t believe.

So what if we’re no longer as mighty,
And have obviously fallen from grace?
A voice in the land still whispers;
What once was would be mighty again!
